Dr. Thompson prides himself in providing exceptional expanded dental care to the community and is committed to serving patients with the highest level of integrity and skill. After graduating high school he served a two year mission for his church, then underwent undergraduate studies at Arizona State University. From there he went on to receive his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree at the prestigious University of the Pacific Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry in San Francisco, California. The UOP dental program is famous for its intense, hands-on training and its progressive approach to patient care. The “Humanistic Approach” is a way of teaching that each patient is more than just the teeth they treat and that relationships with patients are key to understanding the needs of individuals. Dr. Thomson is a member of The American Board of Oral Implantology as well as the American Academy of Implant Dentistry and is a Board Certified Implant Specialist. Dr. Thompson completed a one year Dental Implant residency at Loma Linda University where he was trained in the surgical and prosthetic aspects of Implantology. Dr. Thompson is in continual pursuit of clinical excellence. He is a credentialed member of the American Academy of Implant Dentistry, which required completion of an in depth written examination, an oral examination and defending cases completed by Dr. Thompson. These cases included the successful use of dental implants to restore a single tooth, multiple teeth and a full set of teeth (full arch). Dr. Thompson has completed over 1400 hours of continuing education in implant dentistry. Dr. Thompson values his relationships with his patients and feels blessed to be in a profession where he can foster those relationships. Dr. Thompson is a faculty member of the Implant Know How group, and teaches other dentists how to surgically place and restore dental implants in Austin, Texas. Outside of his love of dentistry, he enjoys spending time with his wife and three children, the outdoors, snowboarding, jujitsu, serving in his church and reading.
Growing up Dr. Thompson lived in many different states, but claims Arizona as his home, having spent much of his time on his grandparents’ dairy farm in the rural town of Duncan, Arizona. After practicing dentistry in Arizona for 6 years, Dr. Thompson and his wife, Tara, decided to make Midland their new home. They are excited and proud to be considered Texans.
