Night Guards & TMJ

Night guards and TMJ care, made for your bite

If you grind or clench your teeth, wake with a sore jaw or play a contact sport, a custom-fitted guard protects your teeth. Both of our doctors make night guards and provide TMJ care.

A guard may help if you...

Signs of grinding and clenching are often easier for us to spot than for you to notice. Ask us if you:

  • Wake up with a sore jaw, tired face muscles or headaches
  • Have teeth that look worn, flat or chipped
  • Have been told you grind your teeth at night
  • Play a contact sport and want to protect your teeth
  • Have jaw pain, clicking or trouble opening wide

Overview

Why wear a night guard?

Many people grind or clench their teeth in their sleep without knowing it. Over time that can wear teeth down or crack them, and leave you with headaches or a sore jaw. A custom night guard puts a cushion between your upper and lower teeth while you sleep. Store-bought guards come in standard sizes; a custom guard is made to fit your teeth and bite, so it's more comfortable and stays in place. If your jaw clicks, aches or is hard to open wide, we'll examine your jaw joints and bite and recommend care.
