Sleep Apnea

Sleep apnea appliances, made for your mouth

An oral appliance worn at night can help keep your airway open while you sleep. We make custom appliances for patients who have had a sleep study and a diagnosis from their physician.

Talk to us if you...

These can be signs of sleep apnea. A sleep study is the way to know for sure.

  • Snore loudly or have been told you stop breathing in your sleep
  • Wake up tired, with headaches or with a dry mouth
  • Have been diagnosed with sleep apnea and want to ask about an oral appliance
  • Find CPAP hard to use and want to ask your physician about other options

Overview

How do I get a sleep apnea appliance?

It starts with a diagnosis. Sleep apnea is a medical condition, so you'll need a sleep study and a physician's diagnosis first. Once you have that, our doctors can make an oral appliance fitted to your mouth. It's worn while you sleep and holds your lower jaw slightly forward to help keep your airway open. If you snore loudly, wake up tired or have been told you stop breathing in your sleep, talk to your physician about a sleep study, and let us know at your next visit.

Why consider an oral appliance?

  • Custom-fitted to your mouth and bite
  • Worn only while you sleep
  • Quiet, with no mask or hose
  • Small and easy to travel with
  • Made after your physician's diagnosis
  • Adjusted at follow-up visits for comfort and fit

The process

How it works

  1. Sleep study and diagnosis

Your physician orders a sleep study and diagnoses sleep apnea. Let us know your results.

  2. Exam and fitting

We examine your teeth, gums and jaw, and your appliance is made to fit your mouth.

  3. Follow-up

We adjust the appliance for comfort and fit. Your physician may recommend a follow-up sleep study to check how well it's working.
